Cutting tools by the piece or the box

Drills and end mills wear out on a schedule nobody plans for. Keep a spare of what your machines run every day, and call when a job needs something odd.

A twist drill boring into aluminum plate under a stream of milky coolant
Coolant does half the work on a deep hole. The drill does the rest.

Holemaking. Jobber and screw-machine drills, step drills, reamers, countersinks and taps.

Milling. Square, ball and corner-radius end mills, face mill inserts, carbide burrs for deburring.

Not sure of the size? Bring the worn tool in. Matching it on the counter is faster than describing it over the phone.

Running a new part? Tell us the material and the machine, and we can talk through what to try first.

Inserts are cheaper than a new cutter body. Ask which grade fits your steel.

Abrasives get used up. Keep extras.

Cut-off wheels, flap discs, grinding wheels, hook-and-loop discs and belts. The grit that runs out is always the one you needed this afternoon.

Sorted by grit, so the 80 does not end up where the 240 should be.

Yellow and blue hook-and-loop sanding discs laid out on a worn wooden bench beside a random-orbit sander
Check the hole pattern before you buy a box. Five-hole and eight-hole are not interchangeable.

Buying for a crew? Send us the list of what gets used each week and we can keep it set aside.

Shop supplies for the line and the truck

Fasteners, gloves, tape, marking, lubricants and the small things a shift stops for. Ask before you drive to the city for them.

Open black bins of washers, nuts, bolts and yellow crimp terminals
The bin you reach into twenty times a day is the one that empties first.

Coated gloves wear through at the fingertips. Order them by the dozen.

Call with the old tool in hand

Have the part number, the size on the shank, or the old tool in hand when you call. That one step saves the most time on both ends of the phone.

Decatur County, between the corn rows

Greensburg sits on I-74 between Indianapolis and Cincinnati. The plants here run next to fields, elevators and farm shops that break the same tools.
